Sherbrooke SUNS is over the MOON to announce our Championship Women’s Head coach 2026.
Matt Shanahan needs no introduction to the basketball world and we are thrilled to have him take up this role at Sherbrooke SUNS.
Upon receiving the news that Chad Burton was retiring from coaching at senior level at the end of the 2025 season we were concerned about filling this void. We sincerely thank Chad for his extensive time as Sherbrooke’s Head Women’s coach. Chad remains involved at the club and will be a valuable resource for all our coaching staff.
We are looking forward to what Matt will bring to the club with his depth of basketball knowledge:
- He grew up in the Victorian basketball system, starting as a junior representative player and worked his way up to the state level.
- Received an AIS scholarship and the opportunity to represent Australia
- 419 NBL Games
- Three-time NBL champion
- 20 years of coaching experience (Grass root and Pro Level)
