Matthew Tielen
Sherbrooke Suns Big V – Youth League Men’s Captain
Matthew Tielen is 22 years old and the current Youth League Men’s Captain.
He has been playing representative basketball for nine years now, four of those with the Sherbrooke Suns.
Matthew loves playing basketball and it has become a huge part of his life.
His first season of playing at Victorian Championship level was at Pakenham in their under 18 team.
When Matthew moved to Sherbrooke, to play under 21s, he had the honour of playing in the first Victorian Junior Basketball League Sherbrooke team to ever make Victorian Championship level.
He is currently in his third year of study as an Occupational Therapist and currently works as a Bartender at The Club Officer.
Matthew enjoys spending time with mates and loved ones and travelling as much as possible
He is a massive fan of the AFL and goes to every game he can with his dad to support the Geelong cats.

Sarah Weaver
Sherbrooke Suns Big V – Captain Youth League Women
Sarah is 19 years old and has been playing basketball since she was 6 years old in local domestic competitions. Since 2014 she has been continuously playing representative basketball. She started playing as a Centre but as the years have passed, she now finds herself playing more as a Shooting Guard with the odd occasion as a Power Forward.
- 2014 she was selected to play representative basketball for the Ringwood Hawks in the VJBL U/14 competition.
- 2017 she moved to the Knox Raiders and in 2019 transferred to the Sherbrooke Suns.
- 2019 as a 17-year-old she was asked to be part of the Sherbrooke Suns Big V Youth League (U/23) representative team as a development player, whilst still playing under age basketball.
- 2020 and 2021 she played in both the Suns U/21 team and the Suns Big V Youth League team.
- 2022 she is playing Suns Big V Youth League and has been selected as Captain of the team.
- Sarah has had several invitations from Colleges in the USA to play basketball, however unfortunately due to Covid she has not been able to take up those offers.
- She is currently studying Criminal Justice and Criminology at Swinburne University and works part time at Bunnings.
- She loves going out with friends and having fun.
